Hey, this might not be that helpful (because my English folder's at school) but how about in "Add sex and stir", Marty says "There is an ancient recipe- add sex and stir" so what he means is that you take any story and add a sex element to it in order to get ratings. Also have a look at "We ain't got dames" in the beginning when they are discussing ratings and their downfall with female viewers I am pretty sure there is a quote in there

The lightweight nature of current affair programs is partly a result of the pursuit of ratings along with media manager’s reduction of the audience to a ‘lowest common denominator symbol’ which ignores the perception and diversity of its members. There is definately one in The Siege even when Brian says "we're gonna try and make a whole half hour out of this one"- he doesn't care about the kids or the situation, all he cares about is ratings. Brooke asks the mother of the gunman to cry again because that footage would certainly get ratings.
