Accomodation advice please?
Ok, I've conducted a search and there doesn't seem to be much direct comparision between on-campus and off-campus accomodation.
I'm interested in moving out, primarily because I can't handle my mum's screaming at me anymore (it's not just the screaming, it's also the ill will behind it), and I think that, now that I'm 18, can drive and am earning money (albeit infrequently but enough to maintain me), I should try and become independent. As many of you will know, I'm 2nd year this year, so uni transition issues are not an issue.
My parents have already indicated that they are willing to pay my rent and possibly even a car (but I don't think that will be necessary if I'm living close to uni), and food (if I live in college), so basically all I have to do is pick what type of accomodation I want. I'm not sure what would be the best option for me--should I live in college, where it's more structured, or should I live in off-campus accomodation? I currently don't have any friends to move out with, they all seem fairly content to stay put, or, in any case, they would have to foot the bill themselves if either their parents don't want to pay or can't afford to pay, so this would be an entirely new ball game.
As I've been chucked into a course where there was only one other girl from my school and I never really knew her anyhow, and I've made friends in my course on my own itsy bitsy teeny weeny self, I think that having no friends to move out with is not going to be much of an issue anyway (please tell me if this sounds naive or what)
I don't know if I want twin or single, but I was thinking that it might be better if I went single for the first year just so I have my own privacy and get a feel for living outside of home before sharing with some other stranger. What do you think?
So yeah, if you could recommend any sort of accomodation for someone looking to move away from home for the first time (oh and is familiar with Sydney), with no issues relating to rent or whatever, please go ahead.
Cheers!
