Hi,

Is it possible to get a Distinction or High Distinction if I only do Paper 1?. I've looked at the past papers and paper 1 seems pretty routine, while paper 2 looks impossible. Is there any real incentive to do paper 2?

Without paper 2 you can't get higher than a pass. Even if you get 100% in paper 1, but don't attempt paper 2 you'll get a P. (i assume it's the same this year)

yeah it is

except this year instead of just 3 compulsory problems in paper2, we get to choose 3 out of 4 or i think 5 or something =p

yeah and make sure you write clearly what questions you are attempting on each exam booklet. Farmer stressed this in ACST200.

it says 90min each on paper1 and paper2

does that mean after the 1st 90min they will come around and collect everyone's paper 1?

for you guys that did it before, would it be rather rudimentary of me to say that with each question successfully compelted in part2 corresponds to a grade jump?

flyin and ND: you both got D's, how many questions do you think you properly got out in paper2?

It also depends on paper 1 - if you do poorly, then you'd probably need an even higher paper 2 mark to balance it out.
Really? the unit outline said that paper one and quizzes will determine you F PC and P, paper 2 and paper 1 will determine you P Cr D HD. so it that means whether you pass or fail is just determined by paper 1 and regardless of paper2 ?
eg you did very poor in paper 1 and very good in paper 2, but you still fail .

I wish I could but Jim Farmer has removed our access to the 211 page. Sorry. It's nice to see someone who's proactive. :)
