My house no longer has an active landline phone service because we have no use for it and we use mobile phones on cap plans instead. I am currently using a 3g broadband USB stick and the speed is dismal. I wanted to switch to ADSL.

Do you need an active phone line to get DSL service? What about a non active phone line?

hi sexy.

I understand your pain. You can actually get ADSL even if you don't have an active phone live. I think its called ADSL naked. Here have a look at this. I understand your pain if you cannot get ADSL. I have 2 internet plans. One is Bigpond which is expensive and shit and the other is the best one i feel which is virginbroadband which is 3g and you use the internet key stick. I pay $34 for 5 gig in a 24 month contract in which I also receive 3 months free. Reception is always great and internet is even faster than adsl.

here is the link for the naked adsl
TPG best value Naked ADSL2+ Broadband plans - no more line rental
good luck

yes you can get naked ADSL 2+ plans as your phone line is still there (but obviously you're not paying line rental) from providers such as TPG and Exetel, but you will have to pay a little extra (maybe $10-15) per month more than if u did have a working landline phone coz you're not paying line rental.
