Hey i'm currently in year 12 and thinking of doing either mechanical engineering or mechanical and mechatronic engineering. If there is anyone out there currently doing these courses, could u please give any advice to what the courses are like, such as core subjects and maths. Will be greatly appreciated, Thnx!

Right here.
At UNSW, you share the same subjects with the 4 other degrees offered at the School of Mechanical Engineering (Naval Architecture, Mechatronic, Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing) for the first 2 years of the degree after which you choose what you want to do for certain and specialise.
You'll have to do physics and a bit of chem though maths-wise, you learn all the fundamentals and just a tiny bit more. The engineering maths will be learnt in (not surprisingly) the engineering and physics subjects.
You do stuff from CAD to drawing to engineering mechanics and computing, the design process.

More info can be found here:

Work load and hours are pretty high. Expect to do like 25 hours per semester for the first year anyway.
Work-wise, if you are diligent/steady with your work and keep up to date and attend the lectures and do the tutorial problems, should have no problem getting credits/distinctions.
