ive heard alot about subjects aligning bands then ive hear people claim that they dont get aligned i am really confused and frustrated whats going on? i hope they get alinged because some tests were real hard and i deserve a better mark which should get scaled up and aligned.......so my real question is does anyone know if the Legal Studies topic gets aligned ...i.e is there any chance that 84 could be a band 6 this yr and so on...?

All subjects tested by HSC exams are judged and then aligned according to the band descriptors.

Scaling is only done on raw marks for the UAI. Scaling and aligning are different processes, but yes there will be subjects, where the exam mark is in the 80s and it is a band 6.

seriously i think it is quite a mystery with wat they do to your marks before you get it

so for subjects where you get 90 aligned, only that "80" (assuming 80 is the raw) goes towards uai (but thats scaled of course, up or down)

Yes. The aligning process, artificially changes the distribution of marks, which is why they use the raw marks for scaling.
