hii i was jus wondering, am i too late to be hoping for a uai of above 95 if i wasted yr 11? i mean i noe all the stuff i learnt, evrything i was taught i can understand its just that i didnt try at all. my stupid lazy brain got the better of me(im kiking myself..dun worry i am). so basically wut im asking is that is there anyone out there who despite not doing so well in yr 11, worked their butt off in yr 12 and got a uai of over 95? jus to give me a lil bit of hope
thanx

You need to pass year 11 in order to enter the year 12 courses. Also, up to 30% of maths (and science) exams can be from the preliminary courses (according to syllabus). That said, what you learn in year 12 is built on the year 11 stuff, so even if you don't know it now by September next year you will, weather you realise it or not. Just read up a bit and study during the summer. :)

Just remember you get a clean slate for Year 12 (ie. your HSC year). Just like you get a clean slate for Uni.

from the looks of this year and my first time experiencing the hsc well almost everyone lol its not too hard to get that 95 +, but i think theres this strong bad perception of ppl wanting to do all these hard subjects to do it, basic subjects can enable such a high UAI, i mean i have about the crappest scaling subjects and i achieved a UAI better than some people who took ext 2 maths and ext 1 maths it definately goes to show your subjects dont matter alot, its just how well you preform in them so i would rather do 12 basic units and try my best and come top 10 for them all and then come the exams achieve a fewband 6's and 5's and your probably on your way for that mark.

I agree i mean yes they do say if you suck at eng dont do advnace but my scool was sooo discouraging saying u wont even pass standard english blah blah in yr 10 i mean seriously let us do advance in yr 11 and try out other subjects and then formally finalise it in the beginning of yr 12.

I went pretty shit all year 11
Then resolved to get right up there in ranks for year 12, didn't happen and i went pretty average all through year 12 and trials
Studied an average of 6 hrs a day for HSC Exams, and ended up with UAI - 93.05
Just trying to show you that you can surprise yourself even after bludging for 2 years, doing almost all average/poorly scaled subjects, and leaving most/all assessments to all-nighters :p
Good luck for yr 12, it's not nearly as bad as it may seem :)

Fashionista, i think that's jus a bit of an over-reaction. i mean 8 months not doing anything but study can be quite detrimental. i mean work heaps hard during the term and then sort of bludge in ur holidays (altho dont completely bludge). Remember to have fun in Year 12!!!
