Hey everyone
This may sound really stupid seeing as i really should know but i was just wondering whether there is a correct or a suggested layout for an analysis. Mine are always divided into the 6 musical concepts but don't really flow properly i.e. this section has thin texture. it only uses three instruments. these instruments... etc etc. Sorry if this question makes no sense but any help/websites/threads would be greatly appreciated.

I think dividing it is an excellent way to structure your analysis. I'm not sure how the HSC does it anymore, but at uni (conservatorium of music) we more or less set it out that way. Most musicologists that have written books find it easiest to do that.

Then there's other topics such as "non-western influences" or something like that, and that could encompass all of those musical aspects in that one paragraph.

Does that help?
