I always thought Modern had such better scaling than Ancient, but look at this scenario:
My sister did her HSC in 2004, and got 84 for her Modern Exam mark, and I got 86 in Ancient.
In our internals, she consistently got in the 80's and sometimes low 90's.
I got:
1. Task 1, 20/30, 67%, Weighting 6.7/10.
2. Task 2, 17/25, 68%, Weighting 17/25.
3. Task 3, 40/65, 62%, Weighting, 6.2/10.
4. Task 4, 28/35, 80%, Weighting, 20/25.
5. Task 5, 59/100, 59%, Weigting, 17.7/30.
So overall, 68%. Pretty average marks, I was a one hit wonder in Task 4, possibly the most overrated Ancient student at our school. I came 6/24, thanks pretty much solely to that one task. The best I came in any of the other 4 was 8th. People thought I was great for getting such a good rank, but it was only because I came 3/24 in that one.
Somehow, my Ancient school mark was 81, and exam mark was 86. My sister got 84 for each, so we tied, but how did I beat her in external? I am baffled.
