hey whats the proper definition of a consul?

Technically, they were the two people elected by the senate to a term of a one year and no more (although this would change).* They were in effect the "leaders" of Rome, and were in charge of laws and the military to name a few.
* - The original concept of Rome was based on 3 concepts which governed this office: annuality, collegiality (no singular power except in dire times), and public sovereignty.

i cant remember the site name (man, my old notes would be helpful" but iff u google "consul & definition, there is a site wich has a definition of all ancient history terms
