Here's one i'm a bit lost with...
A computer connected to a router/switch keeps saying the network activity keeps dropping out.
It'll detect a connection, then lose it, then find it again, then lose it.
IE: the LAN Connection says: "LAN now connected. Speed 100Mbps" then it'll go to "Network Cable unplugged"
So here's what i've done to try to diagnose the problem:
*Tried to use both DHCP and Static while doing a "Ping <IP Add> -t" --> same problem
*Tried switching cables --> same problem
*Tried switching ports on router/switch --> same problem
*Tried resetting the router/switch --> same problem
*Tried a "Ping <IP Add> -t" test with a diff computer with the same cables and port on router/switch --> results say that all ports and cables tested with are fine and working 100% with not packet losses.
*Took the affected computer to another network, and carried out a "Ping <IP Add> -t" test on the diff network --> no packet losses
*Cleared all spy/ad-ware --> same problem
So after all these tests, I'm thinking...
1. The router/switch is working fine, and all the ports on the router/switch are in good condition and working well.
2. The cables that i tested with aren't damaged.
3. The NIC on the affected computer is fine.
So I've now got no idea what could be wrong. I guess a possible cause could be an electrical pulsating surge somewhere that's affecting the computer.
The things i'll have to carry out next would be:
*upgrade router/switch firmware?
*try all the same hardware but in a different environment?
*install another NIC?
*Format PC
If you could help solve this issue, or throw in some suggestions, it'll be very much appreciated.
