x^2 is even, how do you prove that (x^2)/2 is also even?

Is this right: if x^2 is even then x = 2a, therefore x^2 = 4a^2, so (x^2)/2 = 2a^2

But whats the theorem or proof that states that x^2 is even then x = 2a?

I see. Thanks.

I will just write that then, short and simple.

Yes, except in the few cases where x≠0 AND x≠2

the easiest way to show this is graphically... grah y=x^2 and then graph y=x^2/2... when its divided by 2, that only means that there is a coefficient of 1/2 in front of the x^s... easy marks :)

asking for clarification: even as in graphically even, or numerically even?
