if i want an intel 775 motherboard. can i choose wheather it supports DDR or DDR2 memory ?

its just that i currently use normal DRR and didnt really want to buy new memory cuase i am changing a motherboard

There are LGA775 motherboards that will take DDR RAM since they run on the 865 chipset, which still uses AGP.

Otherwise, there might be one Gigabyte motherboard that comes with a DDR to DDR2 converter that works only with that particular motherboard, but I doubt it is widely available or even available at all.

Despite the higher frequency DDR2 doesn't actually yield that much extra performance over DDR in most applications due to latency.

Really? I thought low latency DDR2 would be standard.

The higher the frequency the more latency. DDR comes in 2 2 2 5 and even lower now, while it's hard to find DDR that's less than 3 2 2 8.
