can sumone please explain 2 me wats the difference between an antithesis and a paradox??

coz to me they seem like exactly the same thing, but obviously they are not. are they?

this is related to eng adv module B- speeches, Keating's speech- quote:

"it was a lesson about ordinary people- and the lesson was that they were not ordinary."

which is the correct technique used in that quote? i originally thought it was a paradox but some other notes said it was an antithesis.

some help please!

Well, "antithesis" means exact opposite. A paradox usually contains material which seems to be a contradiction of itself, and as such it can contain an antithesis within it- but the point of the paradox is that it has a profound meaning or message which is discovered upon closer inspection of the seemingly contradictory passage.

I would say that the technique used in that quote is paradox, and within the paradox an antithesis is present.
