I'd appreaciate any advice from people who've done theses.. I need to chose 2 out of the following:

AHST101: Myth in the Ancient World

Freedom and Alienation

Literature and Film

Also, does anybody know how to check up on what textbooks we need to purchase? I remember being able to do it through some coop link which ive lost and i cant find our uni on the coop website...

THanks

Myth is interesting, but Ian Plant doesn't really deliver the lectures in a 'lively' way so I highly recommend bringing/making friends.

I liked myth because I think it's all still quite relevant. As above, it can get boring as hell, though. Nfi what the second course is, because you didn't post the code up. Literature and Film is interesting, but very subjective with regards to marking.

In terms of choosing two, choose whatever appeals to you, to be honest. There's always the option of enrolling or sitting in on the classes, and then dropping one that you don't like. Just make sure you can un-/enrol in time for census date and latest date of enrolment.

For books, don't by the stupid myth book - it's a waste of money. Continue to borrow it from the library. If it gets really laborious, I'll lend you mine... It's just a huge waste of money.

For Literature and Film, it's generally a good idea to buy all the required books. They set a new book pretty much every week when I did it, although they weren't expensive, so it wasn't too bad.

Hope that helps. :)
