I am trying to write a few songs (guitar and lyrics) as a sort of escape from study..... procastination....

anyway any others write stuff??

what are your techniques or what inspires you....

do you write lyrics or music first?

share some of your stuff

my band recently started the song-writing process...now i may only be the drummer...but we are very much a 'group', with no head man...basically we write our music...record it...give it to the singer...and he will write lyrics and a melody to the music...so yeh, music comes first in our case

well at my place i have like music room, its all sound-proofed and its got my drum kit and PA in it and stuff...and my house is all wired up, meaning you can plug something into the computer from any room in the house there a wall port...if u get what im saying? lol anyways we mic up the amps and drums, and record raw and live into audacity on the computer...and yeh do any minor mixing if neccessary. obviously the sound quality is not 100%, but u would be surprised just how good it turns out for such an amature job. lol.

other than that im planning to get a digital recorder soon

i write differently all the time.

some times i just write guitar, some times i just write lyrics and then later on i try to meld them together.

the best songs (guitar and lyrics) ive written have been the ones that just flow out together spontaneously.

and there is such a thing as instrumental, where you dont have lyrics... ive done a few full compositions of that sort with trumpet sax trombone guitars bass drums.. they were fun.

Whatever you heard in that file was generated from your own computers midi instrument bank.

Having said that, I didn't really dig the song.

I used Powertab which you can download for free. You enter the music in tab form and it changes it to standard notation, and it can then play it to you in midi form.

hey im not a songwriter myself but am very into singer/songwriters such as leerone and tori, you know stuff like that those 2 tho are my faves!!!
