Hi there,

A forum newbie hoping to ask seniors around if they might have encountered a similar problem in their years at school.

Summary:
I've a mate who failed a subject last semester. He appealed for it and only got it upheld almost the end of this semester (after 4 months).
So during the time between last and this semester, he went for classes as per normal not knowing when the appeal will go through.

When the appeal was upheld, the Uni ask which exam does he want to take? He said further test as he had been going for the classes this semester. Then he was told that he would not be sitting in the same exams as per the rest which he thought was fine. He also found that the subject contents from last semester has also been removed. So he studied using the contents from this semester as he had gone for classes. When he went for the exam, the tested contents were based on the previous semester's paper.

In which of course he failed.

Question here is, can he even be tested on the previous semester's contents when.
1. He said further test (doesn't that means supp paper from this semester?).
2. After the appeal was upheld, the materials were removed from his Blackboard.

Is this even fair?

Does anyone know if there's a chance for appeal? Or maybe recommend help / what can be done?

Please advise.

Thank You.

Usyd is horrible. I've heard situations from friends at usyd who've appealed because of unfair failure in subjects but never got the decision overturned. The message they send out is what they say is final and will not do anything afterwards even if you're right. Tell your mate to change unis and just think of this as bad luck i guess.
Good luck.
