I have no idea why - but it seems most of us at my school are doing better in Extension English than Advanced English, including me, in an ironic twist
Maybe it's because the Advanced course can get boring at times? Also I think Ext English goes deeper, making us think...

Yeah, that's the case with me. I wouldn't exactly say that Extension is that much harder than Advanced, but it certainly is more interesting. Well, atleast it is for me, but I guess it's different for everybody because of the different topics people are studying.

lol the extension eng course is infinitely easier than the advanced (at least imo)

competition in ext is tougher, though

also, my 2c: the advanced course is more thought-provoking than ee1, though maybe because i just really dislike speculative fiction

It's not uncommon. They're really two different courses, with completely different content. Extension is a lot more about coming up with your own ideas, and knowing your texts than advanced, which is pretty much about parroting the teacher and throwing around some techniques. The only reason I'm still doing advanced in because I like extension more.

Me too. Maybe because Extension is only 1 unit but advanced is two? And maybe because a lot more drongos like to choose advanced english and act like hooligans to prevent the good students from advancing? I dunno.

I disagree. For me at the moment both courses are really quite boring.
Advanced is clear cut and understandable. For Ext 1 we don't even seem to do much. Our topic area is "heroism" but we are doing it from a postmodernist approach, which results in questions being obscure and ludicrous.
Maybe it's just because i dislike postmodernism...

i definately think im doing way better in extension for eg. im ranked 9th in adv and 1st in ext.

i think it is because of adv being such a content heavy subject whereas ext is more on strengthening the skills you already have. just my thought anyway.
