I don't know what resolution to use, video input size for excellent quality output.

I think I would have tons of questions once I start editing.

standard DV? PAL im assuming.

Premiere should work out the default size for you. i think its about 712X540 or something like that. thats more than you need because the resolution on a standard tv is only 640X480.

sadly I used an analogue one. I know that the quality will be somehow reduced so I am trying to minimize the loss of quality as much as possible

how the hell did you do the transfer from analogue to the computer?
like with a VCR and your TV out or something?

with a capture card.

it is not as messy as people sound but still it'll be pretty messy.
