hi guyz!
just wanted to preface that im genuinely so happy because my close friends and the principal, assist principal, curriculum coordinatior all doubted me and i proved them wrong!!
my year 11/12 subjects
Biology
Maths Adv (dropped b4 trials)
SOR I (dropped 2 weeks into yr 11)
Chemistry
Modern History (dropped it for chem 2 weeks into yr 11)
English Standard
PDHPE
Maths std 2
i graduated in 2024, and lets just say ive had over 150+ absences throughout years 11 and 12 (mostly due to mental health/poor support group), failed almost every exam (only ever passed english imo). gotten 3rd warning letters in chem and bio. ranked last in chem and pdhpe by the end of year 12. found hsc to be the hardest thing ever thinking i would get a mystery mark bc i would end every exam with 1.5hrs left. my rankings were not the best icl
i ended up getting a 54.6 atar, no early entry and max 5 adjustment points from me going to a catholic school. i didnt get any offers for december round 2 and ended up getting an offer for Bachelor of Nursing at ACU!!! (i applied for tafe thinking i wouldnt get in)
so how did i do it?????
i missed a lot of content due to my absences and lack of motivation and it was almost impossible to always catch up (esp with chem, bio, pdhpe), i failed all my trials (except english) and that honestly gave me a slap to the face and made me realise i needed to ACTUALLY try for the HSC. Throughout the weeks before the first exams, i did open book exams for each subject, prioritising those that I found most trouble with, I also used those study guides if I found some questions with content i didnt fully understand (eg organic chem), For questions I did know, i would do it closed book and check and always add on until its actually drilled in my head.
so yeah this is a huge accomplishment for me and a big F U to anyone that doubted me oh yeah. feel free to ask any questions!!!
edit: this may not apply too all, but maybe a little motivation! pls dont skip school
