When you archive a forum/thread; do you lose your message count?

The ways through which your message count could be reduced are as follows:
  • If your own posts are deleted, either by you or a Moderator.
  • If the OP of a thread in which you have posted deletes their thread. Thread deletion is something we advise against, given that users put in time and effort to help other users (thread deletion thus undermines their efforts and potentially demotivates/discouraging them from posting again), not to mention that users other than the OP may find a particular thread useful (i.e. the greater good of the BoS community should be considered).
  • If a forum is made to have posts within it not increase message count. The only forum where this currently applies is the Non-School forum. However, if this is applied to another forum in which you have posted, your message count would be reduced depending on the specific number of messages that you posted.
On the other hand, archived forums and threads do not reduce your message count, although users may eventually no longer be able to post in those threads/forums.

I hope this helps! :D

Archiving threads mean that only OP can access them right? How do we archive threads?

No, Moderators can move threads in a way that makes them inaccessible to users, technically archiving them. Normal users cannot do this. In terms of forums, only the Administrator can archive forums. For example, forums for previous years' HSC cohorts are archived, but can still be accessed in the HSC Archived Threads forum. :)

Going by my math 2023 will be an extremely active year to shine above the rest with 359 threads but 20.3k messages. Good job guys!
