Are private or government schools better?

depends. top end private schools are really good obviously but there's instances where top gov schools are better than the lower ranked private schools. it just depends imo

it really depends on the school tbh, like obv a top tier private school compared to a local government school is an unfair comparison. However, some private schools are just not worth it for how much people are paying and the education they are receiving from it.

low ranking schools are the best for the final goal of schools, atar from hsc results.

Even if I had the money, I wouldnt send my kid to a $30k-$40k private school - you could stick that money an an index fund and give it to the kid when they turn 25 and that would be far more beneficial.

Private schools are really only great for connections, but buying your way in doesnt make you part of that world. If you are generationally wealthy and from the North Shore then maybe going to a private school would solidify your connections. But if you are a working class kid from out west whose parents scrape every dime to send you to a private school, I dont think you will form the connections you think.
