I believe Richard is alluding to himself when he refers to the Aery - like an aery who resides at the top of a tree, Richard's birth was also quite royal - however, the aery despite being at the top of the tree expresses its disdain at the sun, which is even higher than it - this implies how Richard demands more power. This is what I perceived it to be

Edit: do you know what act, scene this was in - was it during when Richard announced Clarence's demise?
