As far as I am ware, the 2 weeks notice is only legally required for the HSC. For preliminary you could hypothetically be notified of the task on the day.

pretty sure its 2 weeks... but yeah i dont think they HAVE to, its just the way it is. if u get more u must be really lucky, coz u gotta get lotsa assessments done in a relatively short space of time, so unless its an extended research project that u could reasonably expect to take more than a fortnight, then 2 weeks is the norm 2 make sure it all gets done. u should have a schedule saying when they're due anyway, so u can prepare a little before the task is set officially.

It must be in writing, 2 weeks before the assessment takes place. However if it is a research assignment, the school might notify you 6-8 weeks prior the due date.

I had that moron for physics in Year 11, and she insisted the rule is 1 week. So everytime when had a topic test coming up, she would handed out that pathetic little paper telling us 'Yo you had a test next week in class'. The school actually printed out an assessment guide which said at least 2 weeks notice must be given, but she insisted 1 week is the norm.

For specific due dates or examination times for most cases:

Upcoming school internal assesments - Up to 2 weeks notification
Upcoming Board of Studies external assessments - Up to 1 year notification

^ You mean "at least", and that is only for year 12, not year 11.
