I do Chemistry and Physics and would like to know exactly what partial knowledge of the subject is assumed that a student should already know/ have mastered in preliminary for the HSC. I already know that the content you learn in the HSC is totally different to what you are introduced to in prelim, but there should be (I guess in percentage) (10-15%) you should already assumed to know if I am correct?

...And I guess most of it is formulae etc...

The World Communicates >> don't need that much of it but an understanding of it will help in ideas to implementations.
Electrical Energy in the Home >> important, pretty much an introduction to motors and generators.
Moving About >> important >> pretty much an introduction to space. Ensure you know your formula's as they are expanded on in the HSC topic.
The Cosmic Engine >> important but not too much, can be compared to astrophysics option topic
