When I read, sometimes I doze off and just read without thinking about what I am reading... so I end up reading the same thing twice...

I'm sure many of you have the same problem as me...

I've downloaded audiobook for Frankenstein and the audio quality is great and very soothing voice by the reader.

I have never tried audiobook and I don't want to risk my HSC by depending on an audiobook and realise that I have wasted all my time...

How effective is audiobook ??? I'm planning to put it in my MP3 so I'd listen in bus and train. Is audiobook more effective than reading??? I'm not just going to listen, I'm going to think of the plot line as I'm listening to it.

I want to make sure that it is actually worth it to use an audiobook =)

It really depends on if you're a listener or a do-er (so to speak). For my English texts I've used both audiobooks and the actual books. The audiobooks are great due to their portability, and their ability to be re-read (or listened) in a much quicker time frame. Whereas books, allow you to annotate the book itself (if it's not borrowed, etc.) I think audiobooks are great, as long as you're not getting distracted on the train and start listening to your own thoughts rather than the book.

I'd suggest maybe use a combination of both sources, just because this is the introduction into the audiobook world for you. (and because it's your HSC as well). I also think the core of your problem lies for when you read. You said you usually doze off when you read, then perhaps instead of reading it late afternoon / night / etc.; try reading earlier in the day (of course I'm just assuming this based on you dozing off). Also, (another assumption) don't read in your bed or anywhere 'too-comfy'; you'd want to be comfortable, but in a studious position (like in well-lit room sitting at a desk, etc.).

All in all, I think using Audiobooks are great. But it really depends on what type of learner you are to determine how effective they will be for the HSC.

Hmm since we're gonna be annotating in class... I think audiobook is a good idea :)

and teachers are gonna set a homework so I eventually have to read it over again.... so I will use an audiobook. :)
