What did you think of the movie? What have you heard about it?

Personally, I think Luhrmann needs to stop being such a pretentious twit. It was overly ambitious even to name the movie 'Australia', as if the nations entire history, culture, values etc. can be summed up in 3 trashy hours.

Then he started to twist the truth on the 'stolen generation'...

it's called FICTIONAL ENTERTAINMENT for a reason. but seriously, i always go to the cinema to get the facts straight. titanic and pearl harbour ftw!
Except Baz Luhrmann has being going around purporting it as a truth. Telling people that the story told is a real one... he's got many American movie critics tricked, as well as British ones.

Apparently there are also notes at the start and end of the film saying it is a true story...

So it may be fictional... but he's purporting it as a truth.

yeah, but its different with Australia because baz was 'twisting' an issue like the stolen generation to try and get some sort of sob reaction from the audience while portraying it as truth

sounds pretty lame imo

i havn't seen the movie btw

there aren't notes at the start and end suggesting its based on a true story. there's just snippets of fact such as white australia policy was abolished in the 70's and in 08 rudd finally said sorry etc. much like in pearl harbour
he tries to frame the story to present it as fact than... same same.... verisimilitude.

also though.. in public he is claiming it is historically accurate.
