What sort of engineering do u do to become a Automotive designer? (like designing cars and stuff)

I'd say mechanical, but im not completely sure, i know mechanical engineers design engines and other machines not sure about the whole car though.

consider industrial design aswell

mechanical engineers would do the design of the mechanics on the inside,

industrial designers/(and interior designers) would to the aesthetics of the interior and outside looks of the car.
