I know there's probably a thread dedicated to this somewhere but its early and im on holidays so can someone just tell me how to make pictures smaller so that i can use them in my avatar?

just go to paint, or fireworks, paste it there and just click on the edges to make it smaller. Save it and then see if it can still fit. I had to do that with mine.

It also depend on what program you use, most have a resize option. I use paintshop pro 6 which has an option allowing you to resize so the biggest dimension is 100 pixels.

if u mean the file size smaller try saving it as a .jpeg file extension in paint
