I did Intro to Socio. It's a hard unit, because it jam packs sociology, its concerns, topics and schools of thought into one unit. So each week you learn something new, e.g. family, sex, crime, religion and power.

The unit is so jam-packed, that a whole unit (Crime and Criminology) pretty much piggy-backs off the content of intro to socio.

As for social policy, I hear its a pretty sustainable unit.

I only got a Pass, my worst mark thus far. Assignments make the bulk of assesments including a final exam which they usually let you pick the topics to write about. You just need to have the sociological imagination as they say - being able to see how the social affects the person.

ok good I have enough confidence to say i have a pretty good sociological mind/imagination, i guess this unit, if applicable, will be my challenge in my quest to get into b social science.

hm yes actually lol its a core subject i think, if i get good grade in sociology, since it's a core subject in social science, that would make my transfer chances greater eh

Introduction to Sociology 1 is not a compulsory unit. It forms the foundation for the sociology major, but if you are not planning on sociology and are not interested, you can do your four foundation units on Psychology, Criminology, Humanitarian and Peace studies, etc...
