No, its just like any other degree
The good student - gets an internship in 4th year usually since you'll be penultimate (Not sure about the specifics of engo placements during uni)
The exceptional ones - pulls one in 3rd year.
Also note, if you do engo/comm you're not likely to be better or worse off compared to a straight engo or straight comm student. Your marks have to be good (i.e. D average) for most 'good' internships. If you're after top stuff (IB/MBB), you'll need a HD average - or very close to it (I assume the same for top engo firms).
