i've read that the assumed knowledge is mathematics plus any 2 units of english, does this include general mathematics as well? if it does would I have any problems with this degree if I pursue it? how much maths is involved etc.?

I believe you won't have problems. BScIT hardly has any maths. But, it would have logical questions in the programming subjects.

However some say being good at maths increases your potential for being good at programming.
