Just wondering.... if I wanted to apply for Bachelor of Medicine, do I need to put it as my "First preference" or do I apply through sending an application form or something?

plz be more specific. You'd want to put it at the top of the UAC preference list. You also have to send in an application form (CV) for unsw, and newcastle
