If I live away from parents, at per say my own house, which is in my name, would I be considered independent or dependent?
Thanks :)

Nope. You need to work to support yourself for at least 18 months after leaving school earning a certain amount. If you're moving away for uni, you're still dependent but you get the away from home rate.

okayyy... so would I still be eligible for youth allowance if I owned my own home? And what would Centrelink assess? My parent's income and assets or would they test my assets and income?

Think if you own your home you'd receive some other benefits besides youth allowance
and it should be your income and assets once you're 18 and if you're not dependent on them

Maybe call centrelink (terrible I know) and they can work it out
