which is the best textbookfor 4 unit?

I agree. The best textbook IMO is cambridge, but once you learn the content you should stop doing textbook questions and do past papers, so textbook will have minimal bearing on your final result.

fitz is a waste of time i reckon. The q's in there are too basic and easy. But i guess it's alrite if u've jus started the topic. The one by Arnold is way better. I think it's cambridge

Use Fitz for understanding then when u think u are better start tackling patel, terry lee and Arnold(cambridge), and when u think u are super tackle coroneos
but yea past papers are the best.... for test revision

IMO once you've done one textbook doing others is pointless because the questions are so un-examlike.

Whats the best book to use solely as a source to explain the topics, doesnt matter if the questions are crap. I just wanna catch up on stuff i missed out on and revise topics i did before i dropped Ext. 2

Mmmm..I agree with Estel, like once you learn the content its all past papers and practice exams from then on, for the rest of the HSC all I did to study for 4u maths was just 1 past paper a day or 2 for everyday till the HSC and I never ever went back to my textbook ( It was a Patel) So yeah HSC 4u is all about knowing the stuff then just revising with past/practice papers nothing else

I think you need both textbooks and practice questions, personally.

What's the point without solutions? Exposure breeds familiarity. Typically you can tell if you're doing a question the right way or not. For the first 1 to 5 questions, really it's a matter of drill. You don't need solutions. For 6 to 8, solutions would be good, but the most important thing is exposure to the more difficult questions, so you build up an arsenal of ideas and methods of approaching harder, more abstract questions.

Hey how can you do this one:

dy/dx = x(x^2 -4)^1/2, and y =2 when x= 5^1/2, find y in terms of x

find the primative of y'=x(x^2 -4)^1/2; which is 1/3(x^2 - 4)^3/2 + C
since when y=2, x=5^1/2; sub both values in to find the value of C
then sub what C equals back into the primative equation of y = blah, and thats ur answer....
(C=5/3 therfore y = 1/3(x^2 - 4)^3/2 + 5/3)!
