When introducing a related text in an essay, what is too much and what is not enough? How? Specifically when using texts that are most likely unknown to the marker.

Obviously mention it in the introduction, and then just start a new paragraph discussing the new text. Just get to the point of the essay for that text; no need to ramble on about the text even if the marker hasn't read/seen it.

Definitely this. Don't spend ages telling the marker what the text is, a sentence or so is usually sufficient at the start of your discussion.

I always introduced it in the same sentence as my core in the intro.

Honestly, the markers don't really care what your text is about, only how well you can relate it to belonging.

'This analysis contrasts heavily/compares compellingly to (title of related text) when one discusses relevant issues in (the question).'

don't re tell the story, just explain the techniques and how they relate to your essays purpose and the concept of belonging.
