You get books from the book shop on your campus which subjects are taught at.

Don't get your books on wednesday, get them when uni starts, cause lecturers may still change their mind or you might find that you don't even need to really buy the books.

Depends what course you are doing. Some books are only available from certain bookshops. Pretty much all books are at the co-op shop. However if you are a law student for example, you need to pay a visit to the government bookshop for a copy of some of the relevant laws.

You can buy them at orientation day, most lecturers will not change their mind and they need to request the books that students will buy, that is why not all co-op shops are the same, e.g. you can't buy lawbooks at bankstown co-op because there are no law lecturers there generally.

yeah you shouldn't buy them yet, you'll get a unit outline on the first day of each subject which will tell you what you need to buy. There are lists of books on the coop website, but a lot of the time lecturers subtitute one book there for another, or add or take one off the list etc. It's better to buy books when you know what you need, so that way you don't spend money on books you don't need. As cape says you can buy your textbooks from the coop bookshop located on your campus, or alternatively you can purchase second hand books from students...look out for advertisements if that's the way you want to go, but that all depends on how much your textbooks cost. Just wait and see so that you are sure before you do anything, there is no rush you'll have plenty of time to get books when uni starts.
