I have a debate in class and i really need help, it would be good if anyone could help me, and give a few points.
The topic is " Should marketing managers be concenrened with the social and ethical consequences of their marketing activities." And we are the negative and its not a statement its a question

Desperately need help

It is a statement , but i have to diagree with it and say that marketing managers should not be concenrened with the social and ethical consequences of their marketing activities. I cannot think of any arguments

* Marketing managers have a responsibility to the internal stakeholders of their business, particularly the business' owners/shareholders, to increase the business' profitability. You could argue that this responsibility overrides the social and ethical responsibilities of the marketing managers.

* In the competitiveness of the modern day business environment, it is not always possible for marketing managers to take social/ethical responsibilities into account. If they did so, focusing on social/ethical responsibilities at the expense of effective marketing, they may lose competitive advantage.

* 'Efficiency and effectiveness' is still the most important dogma in business. Focusing on social/ethical responsibilties may undermine this dogma, and should thus be avoided unless focusing on social/ethical responsibilites will actually enhance consumer's opinion of the business and its products.
