do we have to do a commerce or business degree at uni or can we also combine it with law?

u definitely have to do a commerce/ business degree and they probably would want u to do accounting as a major since most cadetships are for accounitng. as for combined degrees, they have in the past offered cadetships to combined degree students but they give preference to those who do just commerce/business since the chances of them joining that field are higher...

It depends which firm it is that you apply for. There are a few firms which I applied for which allowed me to do a combined comm/law degree... however some other firms aren't as flexible. You'd have to ask or just apply and see.
