of course, this is hypothetical!

Anyways, im on another forum, not a religious one but a cricket forum and they have a sub forum for "other topic" and its heavily about religion. and it was discussed over there, but too many fundoos.


im not really a religious person, but you just got to look at what’s going on in the middle east/ north Africa to see how everything is fucked up.

Some gulf states are fucked, hypocrites blah blah blah, others stick up for themselves and others are Israeli appeasers. Could the re-installment of the caliphate change the Islamic world?

for those do not know what a caliphate is, its the "Islamic world" without borders. its one nation.

No, it wouldn't 'world'.

It'd certainly change the Islamic world. But for better? I doubt it - instead of multiculturalism between the states you'd no doubt have some radical government trying to push an oppressive agenda through forced homogeneity c.f. Taliban.

Edit: And lol that they included Indonesia and Turkey. I'm sure those countries, which are doing far, far, better on their own, and also comprise a significant portion of the world's Muslim population, would totally love that idea.

What next, demanding India become part of the Caliphate because 15% of its population is Muslim? How about France?

On another note, I'm sure India, China and Russia would absolutely adore the idea of an Islamic conglomerate right on their doorstep - ignoring the reaction from the Western world.

Finally, it could never hold together.

On Topic:
It could work, but it wouldn't be as big and widespread as indicated in that image. It'd likely be the poorer countries (non Gulf) - Palestine, Lebanon (difficult with the large Maronite Christian population) and Syria. And if Mubarak's dicktatorship is ever overthrown, that'd be included as well. Atleast initially.

Putting aside the obvious practical problems, it wouldn't work because by and large, Islamic states dislike everyone else (Muslim or otherwise). The western media likes propagating the simple view that Muslims vss Jews/America. This is crap, imo. Islamic states hate each other as much as those bickering microstates in central Europe.

Then there's the fact that most of the time, the peoples' actual beliefs don't really mirror the state beliefs; or that there's a significant minority which isn't at all represented in the government.
