What is Campbelltown Campus 2020?
Campbelltown Campus 2020 is one of a series of projects which will lead to the development of a new master plan for the University's Campbelltown campus. We plan to dramatically increase the land used for academic purposes from its current 12 hectares.
The University has commissioned a series of studies to identify how a portion of Campbelltown Campus might also be used for other purposes, such as sustainable residential housing and commercial enterprises.
This proposal will allow us to invest in state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities for the benefit of students, staff and the community. It also supports our plans to build part of the Medical School at Campbelltown Campus, which requires upgrading the existing biomedical training and research facilities.
The blend of academic campus with residential housing is similar to university towns in the USA and Canada, where residents can explore what university life has to offer and staff and students can benefit from greater integration with the surrounding community.
There are opportunities for enhancing and creating additional open spaces for recreationla uses. The project will explore the possibility of links with adjacent recreation spaces.
This ambitious plan is all about 'Bringing Knowledge to Life' - literally breaking down the wall between the University and the local community.
Following consultation with staff, students and the local community we will lodge a master plan (Development Control Plan) with Campbelltown City Council by April 2006. Council will place the plan on exhibition for further community consultation.
It is important to note that at this stage, we are still only investigating the possibilities for the future of Campbelltown Campus.

meh i don't understand the point of it...
its gonna be worse for the uni's image as a 'westie' uni coz when ppl think campbelltown campus heaps think 'Macquarie fields" so don't want to go there.... it makes it seem so much further away from 'city unis' which detracts from the good parts bout the uni...
its in the middle of nowhere for most people who want to go to the uni.... i mean... no one from my area enjoys the thought of the travel, particularly by train, through certain areas to get to campbelltown...
its not exactly the most lucrative area... it would surely make more sense to extend the parra one since its more central n stuff... and since there's more people round here who go on to tertiary education itd make more sense to extend out here.. fair enough its probly meant to encourgae people in that area to go to uni n all that but it neva works like that - places end up bein taken up by people frmo other areas...
and besides - living on uni campus, if they want it like the US style 'uni suburbs' is gonna be too expensive for most aussie students! and i mean.. international students aren't gonna wanna be stuck out that way - they're gonna wanna be able to get easy access to all the fun stuff 2 do in sydney which is a bit of a bitch to get too by public transport from campbelltown campus...
lol and 'state of the art teaching and research facilities' lol what does that mean? its so one of those cliches that unis use to stop you asking questions lol
