I’m not too sure about how harshly your markers score exams, but these seem like 97+ ATAR minimum marks, provided your school marks similarly compared to mine?

im not sure about your subjects but to get into unsw i got a 93 eng avd and a 96 legal also the atar will probably rise as they arent doing lat anymore, so you might want to lock in but it will be worth it

Their marks posted are raw marks tho. My school marks very harshly and someone with an Eng adv score of 85 often end up getting a 93 as their final hsc mark.

Again I think their current ranking within cohort would indicate their chances more reliably.

Focus on process and routine rather than fixating on past results. Who knows whether those marks would have gotten you into law, and honestly it’s irrelevant. The only outcomes you are able to influence are the ones in the future, so give those outcomes your attention, rather than outcomes that have already happened.

How much better were your other scores to get in? I did legal accel and also got around 96 last year but i'm wondering if its ok enough that i can drop to 8 units without legal greatly dragging my atar down. Especially since unsw removed the LAT

legal was my best score but it didnt drag my atar down, languages dragged it down so if youre doing languages be careful. just a note, dont base your chances on my results i dont even know how i got in i think they adjusted my atar (selection rank) based on my lat or the EAS scheme

also you might want to aim for the best scores because it will get even more competitive

dont bother doing a lore degree at macquarie/uts/wsu. low entrance requirements = no prestiege = no actual job
Macquarie/uts/wsu law graduates are employable and sought-after because of the skills the degree gives them. Firms look for those who are competent and a fit and proper person, not the 'prestige' of their university. Where reputation does play a role, it must be supported by a strong candidate who applied themselves throughout their degree.

It is a good thing that these institutions allow more people to study law. I don't know why anyone would feel threatened by making a notoriously inaccessible degree more accessible. This access matters particularly for those individuals who were never going to get a 99+ ATAR because of various inequities that the system will not adequately address. There are schemes that aim to assist with this of course, but they aren't perfect.

It is quite apparent that you have never studied law yourself, and it is unfortunate that you feel the need to discredit the hard work of all of those graduates who remained consistent and dedicated and who ultimately graduated with a law degree. Studying law affects the way you think, write, and speak, and these competencies are highly sought after by employers, regardless of where you have developed them.

I am assuming you are not saying this to be malicious, but I strongly discourage you from propagating this narrative. If you want to praise / critique universities, by all means, but use evidence with merit rather than vague ideas surrounding prestige and superiority.
