Just wondering, if like in pdhpe, the same dot points arent tested extensively twice.
I don't mean the 1 mark questions like 'whats one source you looked up in the dissection of the brain experiment', but the 3,4+ markers?

they can return, but they may require more or less detail (for more or less marks)

of course they can return, there is only a limited amount of stuff they can test us on, so they do need to re-run questions. Of course the questions would be re-phrased and we are not as likely to get a question close to one from last years (a big marker one).

probably not two years in a row. but you never know, they could cut it down into parts and make it a 3 mark question, so study everything.

Your probably refering to a question similar to the 8 marker on Epidemiological Studies that was in last years HSC. I doubt they would ask that question again, especially for 4+ marks, as most students would have studied that extra hard because it was in last years HSC.

yeah its possible but it wouldn't be exactly the same
like in chem they kind of semi repeated the stuff about strong and weak acids this year from i think it was 2001 or 02.

apparently in a four year cycle they have to have tested every dot point so if this is true there will be some dot points which havent been tested before.
an example is the action potential in communication, protein synthesis may also be a longer question in the exam. I also think they may do an immune response question about the interaction of T and B cells.

in chemistry they partly repeated a dot point for our option. they asked us about faraday instead of asking about the other three guys which were usually asked about too. it was four marks worth!!!!!!!!!

They haven't asked about the history yet. >.<

HSC 2004 Biology
Anaylse the historical development of theories of evolution and evaulate the social and political influences on these development. (8 marks)

i think that's a nasty question. but I don't think they can be that evil...

I've prepared for it, but an 8 marker is ridiculously difficult because you have to be completely spot on to get 8 marks.

you dont need to know heaps to get 6/8 atleast. just talk about the ideas of a few scientist in chronological order and how they investigated it. that should be about 6 marks and then talk about the social side ie religion and degrading the position of man in nature, and how the idea that the world has been around for millions of years not 6000 as once thought by religious institutions etc for about two marks

there is a limit to how much you can fit into one page

of course most dot points would have appeared in some trial papers since there are so many of them. In the real HSC exam, it hasn't been asked before.

But if you're prepared for it since you've done it, then good on ya!

And just going through the syllabus, I think this could be a potential 7/8 mark question.
They might give you a map with 5 different animals/fossils on it and ask you to anaylse the available evidence to support these animals have a shared evolutionary relationship. They could have the feature of the pentadactyl limb, and/or a transition fossils in which you would have to support your argument with comparative anatomy. And finally the location of each of these animals/fossils (biogeography).

Don't expect them to give you a one or two sentences question for 8 marks. As you saw from last year's paper, they are trying to incoporate diagram, labels and integrate more than one dot points together for the 7/8 mark question.
