Shouldn't candidates for elections to represent any electorate live in that electorate and have lived there for a significant period of time? Rather than just maybe moving there if they win the seat.

I agree totally. In the last State election, our Nats MP left and became an independent. Well, Mark Vaile in his wisdom decided not to go with the local bloke but instead went with the guy from his own home town of Taree...now, most Port Macquarians hate people from Taree, so obviously he didn't get in.

Our Independent bloke, Rob Oakeshott, got in with 70% of the votes (that was the first count). Go Rob!!!

Every party should be forced to extensively footnote their policies to explain why they're bringing in those policies and what evidence they have to back up why it's a good idea...

I agree. Its like in my electorate our major candidate is howard. I don't see why he should be pm as well as the representative of the electorate.
