Is anyone going to have a case study for this topic? In the syllabus it says that you should:

*interpret the published annual reports of one or more businesses

*analyse the financial statements of one or more businesses (real or imaginary)

*undertake comparative ratio analysis- over a period of time, with similar businesses, against common standards

But can't all these come up in short answer? Surely they won't ask us about financial in section 4.

Note: I know this has ben debated a little bit before- I did a mini search of the forums. I just wanted to know what people doing the HSC this year thought (as opposed to those that discussed it in previous years). Please don't kill me...

They could possibly. I have case studies for each syllabus points and stuff. Perhaps its best to learn about one company's financial performance recently. And if worst comes to worst, you can always...be 'creative' with your ratios :p

In short yes you do need a case study for financial. You need one for all topics, as all topics can be asked in section 4.

And yes, Financial can be asked in sect 4.

U can use a made up one....our school made us write about and do an assessment using a hypothetical business- this is good coz u "know" the business and you can create how the business is going. Or you can use generic ones like Billabong or Ripcurl that every1 seems 2 do / know...
