check the resources ection first, and also, if ur gonna do something abt the environmental impacts say something abt the the gorges dam project or whatever its called. throw in something about the acceptance into the WTO as well for good measure.

google for dfat - dept for of foregin affairs and trade, and cia - the american intelligence agency...they're all i can think of now...but they have useful stuff on countries...sry i cant give u actual sites to go to, but i did mine ages ago...and i did indonesia. sry.
when I did China the economist magazine had good stuff in there, CIA factbook and DFAT have already been mentioned, not sure if its on the net but there is an article called "a potted history of China's modern economy (1949-2003) published by two lecturers at the UWS and it is comprehensive on China
