I applied for youth allowance about 2 weeks ago and after handing in my proof of identity and other relevant info, they said it will take up to 21 days to approve.

However I have just been thinking and can't find the info anywhere but when i filled in the Youth allowance forms, i mentioned that my only asset was my car that is worth around $14000. I am wondering if this will affect their decision at all as i don't see why it should as the threshold for independance was 19k within 18 months so i spent my money buying this car.

Right now i am jobless and have very little money left so am just wondering if this will affect whether i will receive YA or not.

Thanks in advance.

You could always just ring or wander in to your local Youth Allowance centre tomorrow morning.

You'll get a definite answer then.
