Charges of common metal ions. (1 Viewer)

In conquering chemistry it says we should memorise the charges of the common metal ions and the list is in the prelim edition, which I don't have.

I'm still not sure exactly which polyatomic ions we should know the charges of, if anyone can post up a list of the ones needed to be known, I'd be grateful.

btw, the charges are needed to find the salt which is formed when an acid and base react.

Quite a large number of them are transition metals with various valencies, their valency will be specified by the roman numerals in brackets, meaning you don't have to remember those.
For most other elements, you can refer to the periodic table, look up which group element is in and work out the valency from that.
So the ones you need to learn would mainly be the common "oxoanions", like carbonate and sulfate. Other random/uncommon ones like perchlorate will probably be given to you in the question, as we're not expected to know every single one.
