is identifying silver chloride as a solid sample possible??

and why do chloride or silver ions need to be monitored and what possible effects may they have on the environment ?


please i really need helpp i have no idea :(

Yes, AgCl will precipitate out to form a white precipitate as it is insoluble. AgCl will also dissolve in NH3 and this solution will darken in Sunlight. In regards to the second part of your question...I think its mainly the chloride ion that needs to be monitored because you are introducing the Ag ions

Monitoring Ag ions: quite a heavy metal... carries biological implications

Monitoring Cl: not much reason really. Cl is not really toxic unless at an extremely high level. (which is why sea water doesn't really kill us)
