ok i'm not saying relationships can't be both, but if you had a choice, which would you prefer and why?

Why would you want a lifeless nothing relationship- something with raw emotions and actual feeling is more up my alley.

Of course you can have both. I wouldn't really want one without the other.

With my boyfriend, we have a stable, serious relationship which is at times very romantic. :D But then again, sometimes when we're both in a bad mood we would blow up the smallest misunderstandings into huge arguments which end up in both of us realising how stupid we were, and we'd pretend it never happened.

If you look at them separately, the first one is much too boring, and the second option is like riding a rollercoaster to school every morning, which after awhile could make you want to jump off when it's at its highest.

Stable, but without the exclusion of romance/surprises every now and then.

I'm not mature enough to have a stable relationship and I wouldn't let an up and down relationship last because I did that before and it was a waste of time.

Meh, there are going to be ups and downs in every relationship no matter what you do there will be ups and downs. I like my ups and downs! Ok maybe not so much downs but the Downs always make your relationship stronger and the ups remind you how much you love your bf/gf, awwwww. So id rather have the ups and downs because you learn from things like that and face it, wouldnt it be boring without them? xoxo

I chose the 2nd one. I don't like 'boring' and the relationship being passionate and dramatic with lots of ups and downs can make things interesting.

With every rock-bottom low, there would be an exhilarating, orgasmic high.
It's not all about sex

A stable relationship for the long term. "A passionate, dramatic relationships with lots of ups and downs" for anything more than a few weeks would just piss me off. I'm not quite sure why you'd want emotional baggage and ups and downs when you can either flit from person to person without having to put up with any tantrums or problems (who doesn't love free love?) and/or have a long term stable relationship.

I'd rather have stability, the lows are not worth the highs IMO

I'd rather have the ups and downs because the first option seems too boring and i like to be surprised :)

my point exactly!
but you cant have a successful r'ship without a bit of both - too much of #1 can get boring/monotonous, too much of #2 can just get too hard to handle
but i think i'd probably prefer #1..but with the passion, randomness and spontaneity of #2

same, but i still like my extra bits...stable and quiet can get a bit boring
